Dublin airport success

13 七月 2018

Cundall has been appointed by daa to work on the new substation at Dublin Airport. We will be providing project management, structural engineering and planning. We will also be providing quantity surveying, PSDP (Project Supervisor Design Process) and Design & Assigned certification through our local partners.

daa operates in Dublin and Cork airports in Ireland and has significant overseas business through its ARI and daa International subsidiaries in addition to the Dublin Airport Central development at Dublin Airport. The Substation T was constructed in 1987 and is part of a communal landside utilities building that is shared between the IAA and Dublin Airport. The existing Substation is considered suboptimal for Dublin Airport expansion plans and the construction of a new replacement Substation T airside will provide capacity for the installation of additional AGL (Aerodrome Ground Lighting) power supply systems associated with several significant infrastructure projects underway that will require substation support.

This win builds on our relationship with the daa. We are already working with them on the structural design of the support systems for the advanced visual docking guidance systems (A-VDGS) which will help improve capacity of the airport ahead of the construction of the new north runway.

John McLoughlin, Civils Associate, commented: “We are delighted to be working with the daa again at Dublin airport on the design of this key piece of infrastructure. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with the daa to help them achieve their future expansion plans.”

Ian Cansfield, Director of Planning, commented: “This is a great win for the planning team, we are looking forward to working with the daa for the first time on a significant development that will help assist in the future expansion of Dublin airport. We hope that the provision of planning services on the Substation T project will help strengthen Cundall’s relationship with the daa going forwards with their expansion plans.”
