As part of the 100-acre BioQuarter, Nine offers up to 1.4m sqft of specialist accommodation for academic, commercial, and healthcare activity. The three-storey building consists of bio incubator laboratories and offices, shared meeting spaces, conference rooms, administration, and café facilities.
We carried out the building services engineering fit-out to create a bespoke office for four individual clients: FARR, ADRC, PHIB and the NHS. All projects achieved an EPC rating of B. The concept was to create a flexible working environment to enable co-operation between the different organisations, and to produce an informal atmosphere where creative ideas and spontaneous collaboration could develop.
Tony Centola, Partner, commented, "Creating a flexible working environment to allow full co-operation between the different organisations in Nine was heavily considered when designing our fit-out drawings. We wanted to exploit the additional high floor to ceiling heights within the current structure to maximise efficiency and airflow fully."
With the high levels of daylight, we designed an intelligent lighting system, which included presence detection and daylight monitoring that dims the lighting.
