The Interchange Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP) development, located within Arden Cross and the UK Central Hub, was designed to provide 7,400 car park spaces to serve the proposed HS2 Interchange Station.

HS2’s original design for Interchange Station included for 7,400 surface level car park spaces. However, it was recognised by our client, the Urban Growth Company, that the large areas of surface car parking significantly limited the opportunities for economic growth and commercial development within the area of the Interchange Station. Hence, they proposed that a multi-storey car park scheme should be developed to release land for a range of development types around the station. Cundall’s design approach unlocked 30 hectares of highly accessible land for sustainable development for Solihull; an 85% reduction in land take compared to the surface car park scheme.

Tim Stidwill, Partner, commented “We successfully secured a hybrid planning permission (including EIA) for this complex multi-phase scheme within a very short timeframe; this was only possible with all the parties involved to form a collaborative team”
