480 Queen Street
480 Queen Street provides 55,000 m2 of office space over 32 levels, and over 1,300m2 of retail space. The building also features Australia’s first in-building parkland and rooftop tree grove. Wellbeing was a core focus including low-VOC finishes and materials, and end-of-trip facilities with parking for 600 bicycles. The building achieved a world-leading 6 Star Green Star rating and 5 Star NABERS Energy rating.
Our team of sustainability design engineers provided ongoing advice to help the project achieve exemplary sustainability performance ratings, including the maximum 10 Innovation Credits within the Green Star rating tool. Initially the project scope had considered tri-generation, however, the gas-reliant technology was exchanged for a stronger focus on energy efficiency to maximise building sustainability performance.
"Close collaboration with the client, construction team, and coordination of multiple engineering disciplines kept the project on track to achieve its exemplary sustainability credentials. Innovation credits were a major focus, including adaptation and resilience planning, life cycle analysis, integrating healthy environments, contractor sustainability education and verifying the market appetite for high-performing workspace." David Collins, Associate Director.
This landmark building demonstrates the power of a holistic approach, generating a positive impact on tenants and the wider community.
