Michael Logan-Coulsey

I started my career as a draughtsman and soon progressed to my current role through distance learning. My career progression has given me an excellent understanding of each role and how to help develop others. I have 24 years of experience within the construction industry and still enjoy the daily problem solving that civil engineering presents.

Working with the Newcastle civil team is rewarding and enriching on a daily basis. Each member collaborates well, which creates a safe working environment for sharing ideas and finding solutions. I believe that I have contributed positively to this, but I am also aware it cannot be solely due to a single person. When a member of the team discovers an issue, we work together to resolve it. It is also hugely satisfying to mentor the junior members of the team and watch them grow into successful engineers.

I take pride in my work but am conscious there is always something you can improve on and that you can always strive to be a better version of yourself. Ultimately, it is other people that rate you professionally. The work being done within Cundall on equality and diversity has made me more aware of how we behave towards others, and it has inspired me to be better at managing my relationships within the team.
