The challenge of reaching net zero carbon started my interest in sustainability engineering: there is a need for research and development of new tools to successfully meet the changing requirements of the construction industry. I came into sustainability engineering through a post graduate course in Modern Building Design at the University of Bath - this included a placement at Cundall where I developed an early-stage Passivhaus optimisation tool for commercial use.
Creativity through engineering
The approach to building design is evolving to incorporate new low carbon solutions. I enjoy the innovation and fresh thought that is needed to address the new challenges that come with this change, this is what draws me to sustainability in engineering.
Collaboration on projects/with teams
Collaborating with the sustainability engineers at Cundall exposes you to a broad range of experience and forward-thinking minds. It has been highly beneficial in my role to take on the different perspectives of colleagues to find the most successful solutions and deliver high quality projects.
