Strengthening our leadership team with promotion of two new Partners

01 七月 2022

Rob Turner and Alex Saez have been promoted to Partner in the global practice from 1 July 2022.

The appointments coincide with the launch of Cundall’s new strategy which solidifies the global business’s commitment to sustainability.

Last week, we announced the appointment of two new partners within its global leadership team. The addition of Rob Turner in Manchester and Alejandro (Alex) Saez in Singapore, brings the number of Partners in the business to 44, strengthening its existing leadership team and paving the way for continued growth.

Two weeks after we announced Carole O’Neil would be taking over as global Managing Partner from 1 July. Carole steps up to lead the business 15 years after she first joined, and takes over from Tomás Neeson, who has served as Managing Partner for eight years and will now act as Chair of Cundall’s Partners.

At the same time, David Collins will become a Director within Cundall Australia, and join Cundall’s Australian Management Board and Marcus Kan as new Managing Director for Singapore.

Other senior level changes within the practice include Valeria Riso as Director of Transportation and Chadik Miah as Director of Security. Both will be based at the London office and will help lead the growth of these specialisms.

Finally, the finance team is evolving to support the developing needs of the business. Sarah Prime will move into a newly created Global Finance Director role, overseeing financial and commercial operations for the global business, whilst Josh Hindmarch steps up to the position of Finance Director, to cover off some of Sarah’s previous responsibilities.

The appointments coincide with the launch of a new strategy for Cundall, solidifying the global business’s commitment to sustainability – Cundall has pledged that all projects will be zero carbon in design by 2030. The strategy also sets goals for the next ten years, building on the vision set out by previous generations of partners. This includes a renewed focus on culture and ensuring that Cundall remains a people-focused practice.

Commenting on these new additions to Cundall’s leadership, Carole O’Neil said:

“As I start my tenure as Cundall’s global Managing Partner, I am very pleased to welcome Rob, Alex, Valeria, Chadik and David as part of our very strong global leadership. They are all extremely talented individuals and I look forward to working alongside them to inspire and lead our teams as we continue to grow our business."

“Successive generations of Cundall Partners have built an amazing business, founded on the principle that we will act as custodians of that business for the next generation. Our ethos has always been strongly rooted in sustainability, and I look forward to the input of my new colleagues as we continue to drive this through our business.”

Based in the Manchester office, Rob Turner is Head of Acoustics in the UK. He joined the practice in 2015 and at the time already had a decade of experience as an acoustic consultant under his belt. Since, his passion for holistic and pragmatic engineering and low-carbon construction solutions has led to his involvement in several high-profile projects. These include English Cities Fund’s £36m Eden office building, Manchester Metropolitan University’s Science and Engineering Building and the redevelopment of Lancashire County Cricket Club’s Red Rose Stand.

As Operations Director in APAC, Alejandro Saez forms part of the leadership team in the region, particularly focused on work-sharing and business development strategies across Australia and Asia. Based in the Singapore office, Alex joined the practice as a Principal Engineer in 2011, briefly departing to run the Continental Europe M&E Engineering Department at AECOM based in Spain, before returning to Cundall as an Associate in the Singapore office in 2017. Since then, he has risen quickly through the ranks and was promoted to Operations Director in 2020. Alex has experience working on projects across the globe, including Middle East, Africa, Asia, UK and Europe.
