Earlier this month, Qatar Rail launched the highly anticipated Lusail Light Rail Transit (LRT), a sustainable, state-of-the-art transportation network serving the 19 districts of Lusail City.
We are proud to have provided the multi-disciplinary design services for 16 stations as well as specialist services for the overall LRT network.
Gary Dodds, Country Director Qatar commented: “We are delighted to have played a small part in helping deliver this state-of-the-art transportation system for the people of Qatar. This will make an important contribution to mitigating carbon emissions and will help transport thousands of fans around the country during the World Cup later this year.
The metro is supported by the tram in the vicinity of two tournament venues, Lusail Stadium (which will host 10 matches including the final) and Education City (which will host matches up to the quarter-finals stage). The LRT supports Qatar’s sustainability goals and will ensure both Lusail and Education City are well integrated, connected and accessible, while offering a transport option that reduces vehicle use and associated emissions.”
The LRT comprises 37 stations on 4 lines for a total length of 33 km, including 10 km of double-track tunnels and 10 underground stations. Learn more about our role in delivering the network here.
