We are proud to announce our partnership with Sunderland Football Club (SAFC) on the Academy of Light solar development. The project is a core part of SAFC’s sustainability strategy and aims to ensure the club becomes energy self-sufficient from renewable sources by 2028, supporting the UK's low carbon ambitions of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Cundall has been working with Sunderland Football Club for five years and are currently supporting their planning application for the installation of a 40MW solar farm. The development is estimated to be one of the largest in the United Kingdom and will provide renewable energy throughout the community and surrounding area, providing enough energy to power up to 12,000 homes.
Andrew Hird, Associate Consultant said “Our partnership with Sunderland Football Club is another step towards our commitment to delivering net zero carbon designs on all projects by 2030. It’s so refreshing to work with clients like Sunderland who are dedicated to creating a better future for all within the community and we are really excited to work with them on such an important project for the region."
