Cundall was named ‘Engineering Consultant of the Year’ at the Building Awards 2021 – one of the most prestigious awards events for the construction industry in the UK.
Marking one of the first major post-lockdown events for the construction sector, the ceremony was held at the Grosvenor House hotel in London’s Mayfair and attended by over 1,000 people from throughout the industry.
Cundall won for our work over the last 12 months, during which we have experienced a rise in demand for our services, especially around net zero carbon, sustainability and data centres.
Highlights include the award-winning Facebook Data Centre in Odense, which has a waste heat recovery system that reduces the city’s reliance on coal by 25%, and several new and innovative healthcare facilities including the Tessa Jowell Health Centre in Dulwich and Ulster Hospital.
Our engineers have also pioneered new approaches to digital design and we look forward to showcasing the world’s tallest indoor rollercoaster and The Red Sea Project, an area the size of Belgium which will be the largest Dark Sky Reserve in the world.
In response to the Covid-19 crisis, we moved all our events online with great success. Since March 2020, we’ve hosted over 45 webinars on topics ranging from sustainable design, health and wellbeing related to the pandemic, and wider industry leadership. Over 6,000 people registered to attend these events, and another 2,000 watched recordings via YouTube.
We’ve consulted on net zero carbon and Covid-19 support strategies for some of the UK’s most influential organisations, as well as advising SAGE in response to Covid-19 in the built environment through CIBSE.
Well done to everyone in the Cundall team for all your hard work, patience and perseverance throughout the pandemic and for your continued creativity and commitment to designing to the highest standards on every project.
