Cundall delivers Deutsche Bank’s new HQ: 21 Moorfields

UK and Europe 05 三月 2024

Cundall has recently finished construction on Deutsche Bank's new 65,500m ²  headquarters, 21 Moorfields.

This commercial project, situated in one of London's busiest commuter hubs, has now been successfully delivered by Cundall. The building sits atop 16 ‘super-piles' and forms a bridge above Moorgate station. These “super-piles” are driven deep underground until they reach the 58-million-year-old bedrock and form the foundation for the structure above without affecting the tube station beneath.

Cundall collaborated with LandSec to ensure the building was pre-let with the tenants' engineering requirements from the building's base. This included the inclusion of 8MW of stand-by generation and critical cooling systems for their IT infrastructure. Due to the inadequate electrical power infrastructure in the area, the Cundall Workplace team had to bring in two new high-voltage supplies and provide two new 33kV substations located within the building.

Despite the electrical challenges, the team successfully delivered the project without hindering its proximity to conservation areas and listed buildings. As Peter Stocks, Partner, highlighted: "It has been an incredible journey working on this project. The collaboration between the Cundall team, our client, and the project team in delivering Deutsche Bank's new headquarters, 21 Moorfields, was textbook. Despite the challenges the team faced, we are happy to see the project come to life."

The building is scheduled to be fully occupied in April this year and will serve as Deutsche Bank's new headquarters. It includes large trading floors, complex office spaces, restaurants, retail units, six roof terraces, and a multi-level fitness centre.
