Digital material passports - SonaSpray
This is part of the 'Unlocking sustainable designs through digital material passports' exhibited at The Summit — BE-ST Fest '23.
An acoustic spray made from outfire treated, recycled paper and other rapidly renewable natural resources.
SonaSpray can effectively lower the carbon footprint of the building project by sequestering rich stores of carbon for the life of the structure or application. It can be applied directly onto any flat or curved surface and comes in a variety of different colours.
Installed by ISO 14001 certified in-house operatives, SonaSpray fcx contributes towards many sustainable design and health certification systems. This includes BREEAM, SKA, Living Building Challenge and adds up to 17 points towards the LEED rating of a project.
The acoustic plaster achieves M1 certification as Low Emitting Building Materials.

What is a digital material passport?
A material passport is a digital document listing all the materials that are included in a product or construction during its life cycle in order to facilitate circularity decisions in supply chain management at the end of the building life.
At Cundall, we want to create a passport for materials and products that will also provide information before its use, so designers and contractors have a better understanding of the materials and their impact on the embodied carbon and health well-being of a project, facilitating the inclusion of the best low carbon and healthy materials that align with their design.
