As part of the building refurbishment of the existing University of Cambridge department of geography, our vertical transportation consultants provided the design and delivery of a new passenger lift. The goal was to provide accessible lifts to all levels of the building, including lift evacuation functions.

Our lift consultancy team provided the full lift design, specification, tender, coordination of the contractor design, installation monitoring, full witness testing and examination of the finished lift to ensure compliance with the original specification. The new lift was designed to suit to fit within the constraints of the existing building.

Graham Barker, Partner commented, “This project provided accessibility and evacuation facilities to the existing university buildings for the benefit of students and staff for years to come.”

It was a truly collaborative project, providing a modern fully compliant passenger evacuation lift whilst working closely with the structural, electrical and building contractor, a real team effort.
