The client was consolidating their Barcelona teams from several locations into one new building. The project entailed the fit-out of 8000m2 of office areas, flexible meeting spaces, commercial kitchen, canteen, wellness areas, and outdoor terraces. Our clients primary requirements were to increase headcount, create specialist training areas and provide a building that would allow for total flexibility with the ability to easily modify areas due to changing team requirements.
Cundall was pivotal to the design of building services systems which allowed for such flexibility and were heavily involved in the Kit of Parts design which allowed the easy relocation of meeting spaces.
We concentrated on early engagement and review of base build commissioning to ensure the building services allowances were in line with the client's requirements. During the early project stages, we challenged the brief, implementing innovative design ideas and providing advice on energy saving measures. We gained a deep knowledge of the client’s design standards, using early-stage gap analysis and continued monitoring of the design to ensure compliance with these standards.
Our early engagement, deep knowledge of our clients design requirements and the fact that we challenged these and pushed the envelope of the brief, allowed us to add value to the project and improve the flexibility of the space.
