Salalah Smart City is one of many initiatives by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Planning to create smart and futuristic model cities that aim to enhance liveability, health, and diversity in economic drivers. The consortium behind the initiative envisions a sustainable and prosperous future for Salalah, with a focus on achieving Oman Vision 2040's goals of bankable sustainability, job growth and technological advancement.
Cundall has been appointed as part of an international consortium, to deliver the masterplan and design of the new Salalah Smart City. The project is being undertaken on behalf of Oman’s Ministry of Housing & Urban Planning and the multidisciplinary team is led by F&M Middle East with Sasaki as the technical lead. With advanced utility systems, smart city technologies and flood risk management strategies, the project aims to foster connectivity, optimise resources and mitigate climate change impacts. This initiative follows the successful progression of the Greater Muscat Structure Plan, also initiated by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Planning.
“The Salalah Smart City initiative presents an ambitious and visionary plan for the sustainable and prosperous future of the region. We are proud to have been selected to join this consortium and are honoured to bring our expertise to this significant project,” commented Lee French, Partner and Managing Director MENA.
With our commitment to excellence and sustainability, we are excited to be part of this important effort to shape the future of Oman and the region for generations to come.
