Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery

Lift modernisation for a cultural heritage hub in Nuneaton

Nuneaton Museum Art Gallery from outside with planting in forefront

Location

Warwickshire, United Kingdom

Client

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council appointed Cundall to modernise the 33-year-old lift in their Museum and Art Gallery. With an aim to preserve craftsmanship, reduce environmental impact and minimise disruption, we created a thoughtful approach which used the original steelwork. This allowed us to provide a seamless upgrade to the lift while honouring the building’s heritage.

We expertly defined the lift provision, assisting through the tender and construction phases as CDM Principal Designer. Modern, efficient systems replaced outdated components to enhance safety and reliability for the next 20 years. Cundall’s final inspection and testing facilitated the lift’s compliance with specifications, showcasing exceptional quality and meticulous workmanship.

Danny Hillyard, Principal Engineer, commented “Recognising the quality of the retained equipment and its installation has enabled Cundall to reduce the environmental impact of this modernisation whilst achieving an excellent quality, modern lift.”
