Hong Kong Science Park aims to be one of the most sustainable science precincts in Asia. Phase 3 took these ambitions one step further with precinct-wide high-performance design across five buildings. Within these buildings there is a varied requirement of offices, science laboratories and workspaces for tech enterprises. We were appointed as BEAM Plus, LEED, and sustainability consultant, facilitating the achievement of Hong Kong’s first LEED v2009 Platinum building rating.
Our team developed the pathway, benchmarks and strategy for achieving both LEED and BEAM Plus certification, providing consulting services throughout the project lifecycle and culminating in the final project delivery and ratings documentation. Biophilic and passive design innovations combined with our digital modelling expertise including CFD, energy, thermal comfort, daylighting and solar informed the low-energy building design.
"This project was a major milestone, as our team worked collaboratively to create a new benchmark for sustainable working environments. The education aspect of encouraging positive cultural change in relation to building design and operational performance was an important element of our work. The result is buildings that showcase best-practice energy-efficiency, water-efficiency, natural light and natural ventilation." Joe Tang, Director.
Our sustainability team incorporated the latest green building and sustainable strategies to showcase and promote benefits of sustainable constructions.
