Covering two plots of land, this manufacturing facility, located in the city of Wolverhampton, will become the UK headquarters of Fortune Brands. The facility combines current manufacturing sites across the UK into a central facility adjacent to the M54. The site is estimated to bring 250 permanent jobs and offers training opportunities for apprentices and graduates.
Our team worked collaboratively with the architect, client and the specialist process to successfully deliver multidisciplinary design services including civil and structural engineering, building services, sustainability, vertical transportation and geotechnical engineering.
The complex design process meant understanding the manufacturing process thoroughly and tailoring the design and our services to the client's needs, this included medium gas pressure supplies, electrical services, compressed air and process water systems. The interior of the warehouse consisted of three areas: production, distribution and an assembly area. The MEP and structural services team worked together to ensure the production area included drainage points, structural reinforcement, and purpose-built gantries for air handling equipment.
The successful delivery of this project is a testament to the collaboration skills of the Cundall team as they developed the building design with a USA based client team and a process design team based in Europe.
