Location

Dudley, United Kingdom

Client

Dudley College

Architect

Cullinan Studio

3,700m2 education facility specialising in providing skills in industry sectors with skills shortages such as engineering, construction and digital technologies. The scheme is the third in the UK to be delivered under the IPI contract; a collaborative working contract where all decisions are made on a ‘best for project’ basis.

The IPI approach allowed Cundall’s sustainability team to create a bespoke sustainability framework. This approach used the ‘best of’ BREEAM, WELL, Design for Performance and Passivhaus allowing the college to focus on areas of sustainability where they could achieve the best benefits specific to the building rather than a one size fits all approach.

The integrated project team consists of Dudley College (Client), IPInitiatives (Independent Facilitator), Speller Metcalfe (Primary Constructor), Derry Building Services (MEP Constructor), GCA Consulting (Structural and Civil), Cullinan Studio (Architects) and Fulcro (Digital Coordinators).
