Rio 2016 Canoe Slalom

Rio, Brazil

  • This project involved the development of a whitewater centre in Rio de Janeiro which hosted the Canoe Slalom for the 2016 Olympic Games. The venue is operated in legacy for canoeing and rafting.

River Quarter II

Sunderland, United Kingdom

  • The River Quarter II is an 11-storey, mixed-use building, forming part of the Sunderland city regeneration scheme. The ground and first floors comprise a large bowling emporium and a café/bar. The remaining upper floors include 53 private residential apartments, arranged around a central landscaped courtyard. Cundall was appointed to provide fire engineering services on the project to ensure that legislation was satisfied in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Riverside Housing Development

Gateshead, United Kingdom

  • The Stella South residential development, now known as Riverside, is a 14Ha housing development. Upon completion, the development will provide 522 residential units as well as considerable areas of public open space and a riverside walkway. Homes that range from 2-bedroom apartments to 5-bedroom detached properties, giving variety to the completed development.

Riverside Park

Sunderland, United Kingdom

  • Riverside Park is the redevelopment of a 37-hectare brownfield site on the south bank of the River Wear. The scheme is set to provide 1,200 residential units, a 10,000m² retail centre, a hospice and a junior school, with associated infrastructure including a riverside walk and extensive parkland.

Roebuck House

London, United Kingdom

  • Cundall was appointed to undertake the building services engineering for the major refurbishment of this landmark 1960s residential tower block. This involved increasing the number of the apartments by adding in a new ground and mezzanine level, with the upper storeys and the main plant having to be refurbished or replaced.

Rolls-Royce Regeneration project

Derby, United Kingdom

  • The Core Production Capability (CPC) regeneration project followed the announcement that the Ministry of Defence signed a contract with Rolls-Royce Power Engineering to support the future production of nuclear propulsion plants for the Royal Navy's future submarine fleet. The Ministry of Defence stated that, “the investment - which secures 300 jobs at Rolls-Royce’s plant at Raynesway in Derby - will also fund an 11-year refurbishment of plant, extending its operating lifetime by more than 40 years.”

  • This industrial manufacturing project is a modern production facility which replaced two outdated existing factories. The project consisted of a new steel frame, 12,000m2, high bay factory together with a 3-storey office facility.

Roomzzz Manchester Corn Exchange Aparthotel

SALFORD, United Kingdom

  • £25m redevelopment of a Grade II listed iconic Manchester’s building which was transformed into one of UK’s best independent dining facilities. The £13m Roomzzz Aparthotel, part of the major redevelopment, included 114 brand new boutique hotel bedrooms with bespoke design.

Rosalind Franklin Building, University of Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton, United Kingdom

  • Cundall was engaged by mechanical and electrical subcontractor Lorne Stewart to carry out the building services design for the refurbishment and expansion of a 6-storey laboratory building for the University of Wolverhampton.

Rotherham Mortuary and Bereavement Centre

Rotherham, United Kingdom

  • The design of a new two storey building located within the grounds of Rotherham General Hospital.  The purpose built facility will provide modern facilities in a sensitive environment that considers the needs of bereaved relatives, visitors and staff.  This bereavement centre has been designed to provide a safe and convenient facility for grieving relatives and friends with a dedicated entrance. There are also enhanced mortuary facilities and dedicated collection space for funeral directors and private ambulances.
