Tom Blanden

I joined Cundall in 2020 after four years of experience at another consultancy post-graduation. I studied civil engineering in Belfast and gained a master’s degree at Newcastle University. I love problem-solving which is critical to competent civil engineering practice, and I am passionate about engineering sustainability, exploring this in depth as a Zero Carbon Design Advocate.

The recent pandemic has highlighted the importance of fostering and improving the connections within our respective teams and with our wider engineering stakeholders to deliver robust, high-quality projects. This collaboration will be integral to addressing the climate emergency we are facing.

Engineering is the art of directing the great sources of power in nature for the use and convenience of mankind. Historically, this has been to the detriment of nature so engineers now need to become more creative in their solutions to enable mankind to continue to progress.
