As a young boy I loved being trotted round dams in the wild and remote parts of Scotland by my grandfather, who was chief civil engineer with the North of Scotland Hydroelectric Board. Through this I developed an interest in engineering, furthered by studying at the University of Edinburgh. Since then I have lectured and tutored at the Edinburgh School of Art, Strathclyde University and The Mac, and have held the post of honorary professor at the University of Glasgow.
Collaboration
I am particularly interested in the education of engineers and architects, and believe input from those of us in practice is vital in the development of construction undergraduates - both in architecture and engineering.
Engineering excellence
I am always looking for ways to improve the delivery and engineering excellence of our projects to increase the value delivered to our clients. I, and the teams I work with, strive to work collaboratively as this is the most successful and enjoyable way of doing this.
