As part of Green Building Day Perth on 23 May 2023, the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) announced Madlen Jannaschk as one of its distinguished Green Star Champions for 2023.
This prestigious recognition is awarded to professionals who have made a substantial contribution to enhancing the sustainability of the built environment through their dedicated advocacy for Green Star in Australia.
Madlen is Cundall’s APAC ESG lead and is a Principal Sustainability Consultant in Cundall's Perth office. As a Green Star Accredited Professional, Madlen has contributed to numerous Green Star Communities projects, notably leading the first Green Star Communities Recertifications in Australia for the Alkimos Beach project by Lendlease and the Greater Curtin Masterplan. Madlen has also made significant contributions to Design and As-Built certifications. She also utilises the Green Star Performance rating tool in supporting clients to meet their sustainability targets and align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting frameworks like GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark).
The recognition is one Madlen believes reflects the dedication and technical excellence of the wider team at Cundall.
“This award not only highlights my commitment to sustainability but also the collective efforts of the outstanding team I work with. The recognition underscores the importance of our shared vision for a more sustainable future in the built environment.”
“I see this recognition as an opportunity to continue pushing boundaries and inspiring others in the industry. The challenge of climate change is real, and we all have a role to play. Green buildings are not just an option but an essential part of our solution. It's about making sure our built environment is not just better for us but also for generations to come."
