Cundall launches STEM initiative to inspire the UAE's future engineers

MENA 30 May 2024

Cundall has launched a STEM initiative in the UAE, to inspire young people to pursue careers in the construction industry. The programme aims to generate awareness about the vast opportunities within engineering and highlight the positive societal impact the profession can have.

As part of the initiative, Cundall's team is visiting schools in Dubai to engage students with interactive presentations and hands-on workshops. The sessions are designed to spark interest in STEM subjects and encourage students to consider engineering as a viable and rewarding career path.

Commenting on the initiative, Scott McKeever, Country Director - UAE & MENA Head of Building Services said, “The UAE’s talent shortage is real, and now more than ever we have a responsibility to play our part to address this challenge. This is an opportunity for us to engage with talented young minds from across local schools and inspire them to consider the construction industry as a viable career choice.”

The first phase of the initiative will see Cundall visiting schools including The Arbor School and other local institutions. Through these visits, students will gain a practical understanding of what a career in engineering entails, with the opportunity to participate in engaging and educational activities.

In addition to school visits, Cundall Dubai is offering a number of placements for students to gain industry experience. The placements will allow students to delve into the life of an engineer, participate in in-house training, and receive invaluable mentorship.

Scott added, “Inspiring the next generation of engineers is something that we are passionate about at Cundall. Providing opportunities to support young students is of paramount importance to really help make a difference. In light of the current climate crisis our industry is grappling with, we need to empower young people to solve the problems of tomorrow and create a strong, positive impact.”
