Our Power Systems team is a hub of world-leading expertise in electrical engineering and HV power systems. We deliver specialist design and technical advisory services for complex, groundbreaking projects across the energy, industrial, and critical infrastructure sectors. Our work is pivotal in shaping the pathway to global net-zero energy strategy, presenting unique challenges that will push your boundaries and foster innovative thinking.

Our engineers operate across diverse domains including T&D networks, substation design, renewable energy (PV, battery storage), and provide technical advisory services for a range of industrial clients. We also support our market-leading Critical Systems team with hyper-scale data centres and collaborate with our Building Services teams on major construction projects. We emphasize skill development and professional excellence in a proactive, collaborative environment.

We distinguish ourselves from industry peers through our integrated approach at Cundall, seamlessly merging the often de-coupled elements of power system design with simulation studies, all within a multi-disciplinary setting. This distinctive methodology empowers us to excel in delivering high-quality solutions for complex and challenging projects.

The Role

As a Power Systems Engineer, you'll tackle some of the most stimulating engineering projects worldwide. Your role will involve designing medium/high voltage power systems, using industry-recognized software for analysis and validation and drafting technical reports through your passion for accurate and innovative power systems design and strong collaborative and problem solving skills.

Joining our team of experts will enhance your knowledge, contribute to our success, and advance your career.

Project Themes:

  1. Substation Design: Engage in pre-FEED/FEED design of grid substations and hyper-scale data center campuses (100MW+), focusing on system design principles and equipment selection.
  2. Grid Connections: Design grid interconnections for renewable projects, ensuring compliance with UK grid codes.
  3. Technical Advisory: Serve as an independent reviewer/owner’s engineer for data centres and utility customers.
  4. Niche Projects: Work on innovative protection and control designs, city master planning, and deploying novel technologies.

This role is based at one of our UK Power Systems hubs in London, Manchester, or Birmingham. At Cundall, we offer flexible working arrangements, allowing you to balance office and remote work, along with various other benefits.
