Cundall worked with Pointcrest Ltd and Khoury Architects on the redevelopment of a 1950’s 5-storey office block into residential apartments, these high specification apartments are aimed at city workers. As well as an interior refurbishment, the development also included the addition of two new build floors that maximise views of the surrounding conservation area and city.

The project required the removal of the top floor before three additional floors were added to provide a penthouse/duplex with spectacular views to St Paul’s Cathedral and the city. The building is situated in the middle of a pedestrian lane only 3.4 metres wide.

Our design recognised that no cranage was available and light weight components were used to construct the additional floors. The initiation on the overall building height was achieved through careful co-ordination of structure with complex building services including underfloor heating, sprinklers and ventilation. The success on the project was achieved through collaboration with the contractor and client.
