Salford University student residential project is a new 1,350 bed project located at the Peel Park campus which is 3km west of Manchester city centre. Cundall provided acoustic, civil, structural and geotechnical engineering services for this new build project.
It was important from the outset to focus on enhancing the student experience, these enhancements include:
It consists of nine separate residential blocks ranging from 5-9-storeys split across two sites. Site A has five blocks and Site C have the remaining four. The superstructure blocks are interconnected by a raised podium level. Car parking is provided beneath the podium level across the full footprint of the development.
Conceptual and detailed design for all civil and structural engineering elements of the scheme including below ground drainage, attenuation and local authority liaison. Design and detailing for all reinforced concrete substructure elements and full design for the steel superstructure.
Cundall has been appointed by University Partnerships Programme as part of the design team for a student accommodation scheme in central London. The two year construction programme commenced on site in summer 2014.
Dan Bradley, Principal Structural Engineer at Cundall, and his structural engineering team in Manchester have been busy working on nine new steel-framed student accommodation blocks at the University of Salford.
The relocation of diverse elements of Central St Martins College of Art and Design (CSM) into a new central campus on the 61 acre Kings Cross goods yard redevelopment was a major undertaking for the college and university.
