The Helena May Club was established in 1916 and the building retains its Edwardian grandeur and remains highly popular for residents of Hong Kong. As a reflection of its status among Hong Kong’s historic buildings, it was accorded Declared Monument status in 1993, ensuring it has statutory protection against demolition or alteration. It is one of only 117 declared monuments in Hong Kong.

Cundall offered MEP consultancy for the renovation works which involved the main lounge, office, dining rooms, kitchen and entrance lobby. Cundall’s MEP team worked with the architect, the heritage building renovation expert Purcell, to produce a tailor made design and create an integrated system which has enhanced the original aesthetic of the rooms and upgraded the interiors to meet modern day needs.
