Silverburn Phase Three is an extension of the existing Silverburn shopping centre in Pollock, Glasgow.
The scheme is a 3-storey mixed-use retail development with a multiplex cinema, over 5,800m² of restaurant and leisure space at mezzanine and ground floor levels. The cinema has over 1900 seats within 14 individual auditoria one of which is a IMAX theatre.
The building is steel framed with the long span auditoria grid supported over the more regular retail space below through a number of transfer beams. Acoustic detailing has been incorporating throughout the structural scheme to meet strict acoustic criteria. The perimeter cladding incorporates a number of feature architectural elements and is supported off a mixture of cold rolled steel rails and an SFS perimeter wall system. The development was built within a highly constrained brownfield site which bordered the live retail environment of the existing shopping centre to the east and a watercourse directly to the west.
The existing town centre of Shrewsbury suffers from having three disconnected and neglected shopping centres in close proximity.
The historic market town of Newbury in Berkshire is to be transformed with a new vibrant ‘streetscape’ retail-led mixed-use town centre scheme. The town and its residents will shortly benefit from a new development of retail stores, supplemented by nearly 200 residential units.
