Redevelopment of Seaham North Dock to provide a new bespoke 2-storey building with an area of 503m² and associated services, floating pontoons for leisure craft and new dock gate at the entrance.

The new building provides workshops, offices, a café and public toilets and shower facilities and brings modern facilities to a historic Grade I Listed marina, benefiting local businesses, the local community and tourists. The building superstructure is a glulaminated timber frame.

Engineering services have included geotechnical investigation of the dock walls, ground and silt within the dock, structural design of the workshop/visitor centre building, drainage design, preparation of a performance specification for the dock gate and floating pontoon tenders and optioneering to determine whether or not the dock should be dredged.

With the design and detailing allowing BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating to be achieved.
