Cundall was appointed to undertake the building services engineering for the major refurbishment of this landmark 1960s residential tower block. This involved increasing the number of the apartments by adding in a new ground and mezzanine level, with the upper storeys and the main plant having to be refurbished or replaced.

To bring the appearance and value up to the level of the rest of the estate, the scheme focused on the replacement of the original cladding as well as the introduction of energy-efficient initiatives. These included such measures as improved glazing and individual metering and control for each flat to the centralised heating system, which previously had no metering and minimal individual control.

All the services within the apartments were replaced, and during the construction phase, the decision was made to introduce a comfort cooling system to each of the apartments.

The project was completed one and a half months ahead of the original programme, despite changes to meet the evolving demands of the residential market throughout the life of the project.
