Cundall was appointed to provide multi-disciplinary engineering design consultancy for the construction of a new industrial print works and warehousing facility for Reed Print.
Cundall replaced another consultant on this project and re-started the design process from scratch. With fresh ideas, enthusiasm and a commitment to project delivery, the team got the scheme on site within just three months of appointment. A further site investigation was carried out, which yielded considerable savings in the substructure design.
The building is located on the site of a previous facility which had been destroyed by fire. Cundall examined the existing drainage and used this to minimise capital costs. As the printing presses were sensitive to foundation movement, they were supported by means of independent foundations.
The structure was designed with two objectives: to achieve a 'semi-clean’ environment and to allow easy reconfiguration of the manufacturing and warehousing operations.
The new 30,000m2 manufacturing facility for BAE Systems sees the replacement of the existing First World War facility to provide employees with a modern, safer, highly automated, energy-efficient and flexible place of work.
Goldbeck Construction was appointed to design and build two large industrial developments: one in Milton Keynes and one in Thatcham. These developments included a number of industrial warehouses with offices of varying size.
Cundall provided M&E and process engineering services for Motorola’s mobile phone manufacturing plant, creating the interior environment for Phase 1.
