Meridian Delta Lendlease developed the land surrounding the Millennium Dome. The first stage of their development was to re-landscape the land between North Greenwich tube station and the O2 Arena.

Cundall provided the M&E and civil consulting engineering for the landmark square, which incorporates dramatic water features, longitude lines marking the Greenwich meridian, and a performance stage.

It also includes the Peninsula Spire, a 45m-high, twisted, stainless steel sculpture, as well as the largest installation of natural stone paving in London.

A significant challenge that Cundall faced was removing and diverting the numerous existing buried services surrounding the dome. These included the HV power, LV power, communications, BT, CCTV, fibre, gas, Thames Water, boosted water, grey water and chilled water.

Cundall was employed to evaluate the existing buried services, liaise with the private utilities, and arrange for existing buried services to be isolated and removed or diverted away from the site.

The remaining buildings that were not included in this phase of the development were provided with new utility supplies to maintain their operation.
