The Peninsula London sets a new standard for luxury hotels and apartments in the London market. The 5-star hotel features 190 rooms and suites, a select number of privately-owned luxury residential apartments, rooftop penthouse, conferencing facilities, two ballrooms, two pools with spa treatment rooms and underground parking.

Working on-site since 2017 alongside almost 20 specialist consultants, the lead architect and three interior design architects, Cundall has provided mechanical, electrical, and public health engineering design services for the entire hotel. The location has presented challenging planning constraints, requiring innovative engineering solutions for top-down construction. This approach has led to construction and design working in parallel and a packaged construction management approach.

Robin Pritchett, Associate Director and project lead at Cundall, says "The quality, procurement and construction requirements of this project have pushed every aspect of the design to its limit. We have responded by drawing on the experts in our dedicated global project team with full use of digital models."

To meet the client’s brief, a fully-functional mock guest room was built to inform the design and set a benchmark for the project delivery.

Coordination on this project was a challenge. The project was split into 16 separate design packages with designers from around the world. From guestrooms and suites to pools and spas, it was all tied together by the shell and core package. It truly is an impressive development that redefines luxury in London.
