The historic town centre of Shrewsbury suffers from having three disconnected shopping centres in close proximity, each serving people in isolation and at differing levels. The town has therefore lost much of its focus for the local community and shoppers. The new development will join and link two existing and separate malls, creating a combined centre.

This £75 million redevelopment will provide a new 30,480m² department store and 50 new shops. Restaurants in individual building are located alongside the 'open' streets, covered by a feature glass 'umbrella' roof. The development will sit above a 300-space car park and will link to the existing public footbridge crossing the River Severn.

This new scheme will link seamlessly over two levels into the previously separately Darwin and Pride Hill shopping centres to create a single mixed-use, retail-led centre of around 680,000 sq ft connecting into the heart of Shrewsbury’s main shopping street.

Cundall is providing structural engineering, building services, geotechnical, BREEAM and sustainable design assessments. Cundall will assist the client in meeting high sustainability aspirations for all parts of the development.
