Cundall was appointed as lead designers for the new three storey, 438-space car park for National Grid’s Warwick Headquarters which includes one of the largest Green Wall in Europe and the fourth in the world. With more than  97,000 ecological plants and over 20 different species, it is tailored to attract bees and butterflies, absorb carbon dioxide and filter rain whilst creating an aesthetically pleasing view from the historic Warwick Castle.

Cundall provided building services, structural and civil engineering, cost control, project management, supervision and quality control on site. Working alongside One World Design (architects), Deloitte (project management and quantity surveying) and Goldbeck (design and build contractors).

Excavation of the site was minimised by utilising the existing site levels whilst the prefabricated steel frame enabled an eight week construction period. Energy consumption has been reduced by the installation of 558 LED lights controlled by PIR sensors (passive infrared sensors) and the use of natural ventilation.  A porous pavement on the ground level helps minimises water runoff. Lighting has been specifically designed to provide optimum uniformity and energy saving, controlled by movement detection to further reduce annual energy consumption.
