Cundall provided building services engineering for the refurbishment and fit out of Mundo, a 250m² restaurant in Emirates Towers.
The refurbishment comprised of new buffet equipment, lighting, ceiling and floor finishes.
All MEP associated services were upgraded as part of the refurbishment. These included: small power, HVAC, water services and drainage systems.
Due to the increased buffet space that was not originally planned, the electrical load increased three fold. This necessitated an increased load NOC from DEWA.
Cundall applied for the NOC and managed the process to conclusion resulting in acceptance from DEWA. This was not a straight forward process and required some major modifications to the electrical system in the hotel to gain DEWA acceptance.
Cundall obtained DEWA approval for the power upgrade, demonstrating that the existing transformers had sufficient capacity to cater for the additional equipment loads, resulting from the client requirements.
Reuse of the existing lighting control system with new LED luminaires was a specific client request as the existing equipment was recently purchased. Selection of suitable luminaires and drivers was critical to achieving this objective.
Cundall applied for and obtained Dubai Civil Defence approval for the client. This was not a simple process as the existing building did not have prior Civil Defence approval as the base building commenced construction in 1996.
