Majestic Wine appointed Cundall to undertake an acquisition survey of this 25,000ft² (7,620m²) 1990 three storey commercial property in Watford.

Working closely with architect Ormerod Design Ltd, we were subsequently appointed to undertake full redesign of the building services engineering (M&E)  tailored to meet Majestic’s specific fit-out requirements, including new multisplit three pipe heat recovery variable refrigerant flow (VRF) HVAC system, presence controlled air handling to meeting rooms, new LED lighting featuring presence detection and daylight linking together with energy metering and BMS facilities.

The building featured an open staircase as the central hub and a custom-designed, state-of-the-art wine storage and tasting counter used by Majestic’s expert buyers to test products before they hit the stores.

Other elements include new main and deliveries receptions, meeting and board rooms, light training facilities, communal break-out areas, LED lighting throughout for reduced energy usage, charger points for electric cars and shower rooms to promote the company’s ‘cycle to work’ initiative.

The project was completed on time and on budget and has exceeded client expectations.

We also provided soft landings support for the first year following handover dealing with fine tuning of the air conditioning and multiple employer training sessions.
