Cundall provided MEP, acoustics and lighting design for this ultra-unique concept by Lexus.
Dubai is the second city in the world to host Intersect by Lexus following the Tokyo opening in 2013.
Developed by Masamichi Katayama (Wonderwall Inc.), the world-renowned interior designer, Intersect by Lexus is a place like no other in the city.
The restaurant is designed for guests to experience the brand within a modern, relaxing and innovative environment.
The space includes a unique floor space lit by LED lights through Lexus car parts where prototype cars are displayed.
A high attention to detail can be seen across the space where among many others, the bamboo wall is a design representation of the Lexus Spindle Grille while the banquette chairs are made of the same leather used in the Lexus LFA supercar.
The unique ceiling design required special treatment of the fire detection and fire fighting system in order to comply with the UAE Fire and Life Safety code. The lighting system uses a sophisticated control system to set scenes for many activities and functions in the space.
A major challenge was to convert the space into a food and beverage outlet as the base build had no provisions for these services.
Close liaison with DIFC was required to obtain utility upgrades to service the space. This was also required with neighbouring tenants to agree service routes to the space. Without the cooperation of all stakeholders the project could not be completed.
