Cundall successfully completed work on the fit-out of Great Portland Estates' (GPE) new London HQ at 33 Cavendish Square in London’s West End. As one of the leading UK property developers, GPE wished to achieve a high standard of fit-out and finish. Cundall was appointed along with architects ORMS for the design of the fit-out works for the 17th floor of this prestigious building.
For the most part, the existing perimeter induction units were retained for the open plan office areas whilst a new compact audio visual handling unit was installed to provide supplementary fresh air for the meeting rooms.
In addition to the mechanical and electrical scope, Cundall IT and audio visual was engaged to advise on structured cabling, voice and data networking and audio visual integration. A new voice over IP phone system was selected to provide improved internal and external communications. At the same time, the data network was enhanced to provide power over ethernet for the phones and a new high capacity core switch for the voice and data network.
Very high quality desks were chosen from the Knoll range and the voice and data cabling carefully integrated to provide a fully wire managed scheme with the desk and allows easy access for laptops and other portable devices. The main meeting rooms have been fitted with discrete audio visual systems including a sound system that uses panel speakers that are flush with the wall and invisibly skimmed into the plaster.
The renovation of a former Victorian primary school into Buro Fours new London Headquarters. Winner of the Projects up to 2,000m2 category at the BCO South East and London Regional Awards 2012.
180 Great Portland Street has been successfully transformed into a desirable high quality office space, increasing the net area by 15%, with minimum loss of existing material and embodied energy.
