Grace House Children's Hospice provides specialist care for hundreds of children in the region who are not expected to reach adulthood as a result of terminal illnesses. It acts as a home from home for children with debilitating life-threatening conditions, as well as providing support for their families, respite and terminal care.
The mechanical and electrical services were designed to provide the building with energy efficient and sustainable systems. Roof mounted photo voltaic cells were provided to reduce the building’s grid electrical energy use, and reduce the carbon footprint of the building.
The mechanical and electrical services were also designed to be robust and simple to operate, to minimise unnecessary complexities for the users.
A significant emphasis was placed upon the design aesthetics, to give the building a “home from home” feeling and avoid the feel of a clinical building. This was reflected within the lighting design, and the provision of underfloor heating.
Cundall is committed to support Grace House Hospice and will carry out numerous of fundraising activites. To show your support to Grace House Hospice, please click here.
