This major redevelopment of the Gippsland Institute of TAFE’s Chadstone Campus has transformed the campus to provide a flexible and tailored, training environment for the utility industry. The redevelopment which comprises of three new buildings have achieved 5 Star Design rating against the Green Star Education (V1) rating tool.

The three buildings within the redevelopment offer enhanced educational training facilities each addressing different aspects of meeting current and future demands of the electrical infrastructure industry:

  • One of buildings is a centre for telecommunications training as well as electrical and gas servicing, as well as a specialised facility for Occupational Health and Safety training;
  • The second building is a central iconic three storey building providing teaching spaces, a fully equipped cafeteria, administration, a 110 seat lecture theatre and adjacent conference centre; and
  • The final building will be the home of the specialist energy training facility and will provide indoor training areas for electrical line work, underground cable jointing, high voltage switchgear operation and maintenance.

Cundall had responsibility for the building services engineering (mechanical, electrical & vertical transportation, with a sub-consultant for hydraulic services) and environmental design consultancy services, as well as the collation of the successful Green Star environmental rating as the Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP) for the project.
