Cundall was appointed to carry out building services, structural engineering, sustainability and LEED works on the Edificio España.
The Edificio España was built between 1948 to 1953, it was the tallest building in Spain, with 25-floors and a height of 117m (384ft), until overtaken by the Torre de Madrid in 1957. Global Chinese group Wanda purchased the building in order to transform it into a landmark luxury hotel, high-end residential and top retail space in the centre of Madrid designed by Foster and Partners and Estudio Lamela.
Cundall was part of the winning team who designed a New York skyscraper in just 48 hours using BIM.
The relocation of multiple General Electric business facilities in Madrid to a new site was an opportunity for the company's facilities management team to provide a much better working environment for its employees.
José Castilla, Director of Cundall Espana, talks about doing business in Spain in a short video by UKTI called ‘Bring Your Business to Spain.’
