A new golf clubhouse within the historic landscape grounds of Close House, a 17th Century Grade II listed manor house. The contemporary clubhouse provides members and visitors with facilities including a pro-shop, ladies and gentleman’s locker rooms, a member’s club storage room, a bar/restaurant and a private function room for up to 150 people.
Challenges of this project included site complexities such as a sloping site, protected trees and planning conditions affected by the proximity to a listed building produced a wide range of design constraints. Working closely with the architect, various building materials were put forward. An innovative steel braced frame was chosen which not only allowed the architect flexibility within the internal space but also the most cost effective frame in terms of material cost and program producing a high standard of accommodation for a cost effective price.
A 1600m2 extension and refurbishment of the to the existing University sports building to provide students, staff and the general public, including schools and community groups, with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports at all levels of ability, including elite training and performance coaching.
The Lee Valley White Water Centre, located in Hertfordshire, will host the Canoe Slalom competition during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The Lingfield Park redevelopment involved the regeneration of the operational core of the racecourse. The outmoded buildings were replaced with an integrated leisure building, incorporating a 120-bed four star Marriott hotel, replacement viewing terraces and boxes, golf clubhouse, and leisure club.
