Canterbury College provides academic and vocational skill courses for the local community. The overall footprint of the college is now 45,000m². Cundall was appointed as strategic building services consultants for Campus 2007, a major two phase re-development of Canterbury College. The two-phased development programme involved new build and refurbishment, working to designs by Charter Architects to provide a state-of-the-art education facility.
The enabling works for Phase 1 included the £10 million new build of two new technology buildings, a vehicle workshop and a new main entrance building for the entire campus, which incorporated both teaching and administration accommodation. Cundall understood the importance of minimising disruption to the college business and by planning ahead made sure that the new site-wide infrastructure could be phased and arranged to suit agreed timeslots in the busy academic year.
Strategically, Cundall developed a low energy building services solution for the campus, influencing building orientation and massing in order to achieve natural ventilation in as many of the new buildings as possible. As the college was set back from the main road, traffic noise was not an issue when it came to opening windows and introducing fresh air flows.
The Cundall Communications team’s role included conceptual design of IT and audio visual systems for the new buildings.
This modern school provides an enjoyable teaching and learning environment for up to 1,200 pupils. It is located on one of Gateshead's central streets. It is a 2-storey high building, save for the 6-storey arts tower.
The John F Kennedy School is one of the largest Catholic schools in Hertfordshire.
The Sustainability Centre designed for St Leonard's College is an exemplar building that showcases a diverse range of passive systems, renewable energy technologies, and flexible teaching spaces.
