British Airways new recruitment centre based at the airline’s headquarters at Waterside, near Heathrow was designed with the intention to leave all visitors with a positive image of the airline.
The centre which contains 28 interview rooms, a range of assessment rooms and presentation suites, can accommodate as many as 500 interviews a week. Each room is named after an aircraft from the airline’s past, with an accompanying silhouette drawing and incorporated BA’s new branding To Fly To Serve.
The new centre, which replaces an off-site location also designed by Cundall in 1998, offers candidates the chance to view inside the airline’s global headquarter ahead of their interview.
It was BA Recruitment’s wish to use the opportunity of the relocation to implement and deliver a world class recruitment experience.
Our brief was that the new centre should reflect the fast paced rhythm of the resourcing department and also create a new entrance, reception and lounge waiting area that was light and calm to help the candidates to relax.
Cundall was the original designer of all the building services for the British Airways Headquarters, Waterside project and we were delighted to be invited to bring our experience and knowledge to this project.
Cundall worked closely with the client and the interior designer to fast track the design solutions, this included our guidance as to how best to configure the interview rooms to maximise daylight and retain the views of the parkland.
The Recruitment Centre which opened in 2013 has been very well received.
