A new landmark development to deliver a standalone building for the John Lewis Partnership to house adjacent but separate John Lewis at home and Waitrose store.

The site lies on the town-side edge of the 65-acre Basing View regeneration masterplan site being developed by Muse Developments in partnership with Basingstoke and Dean Borough Council. This first development as part of the masterplan will deliver over 75,00sqft of retail space providing a “blue chip” retailer so boosting the wider Basingstoke retail offer.

The project involves a first phase of enabling works which includes relocation of a local road and the associate major utility diversions therein as well as the resulting highway retailing structures all designed by Cundall. The second phase being the store construction following major cut and fill regrading of existing site levels and land retention with significant retaining walls. The regrading facilitates the use of a rooftop car park for over 400 cars with easy access from the road network and travelators giving shoppers rapid access to the stores.

The new building will create an iconic gateway to the regenerated Basing View site, giving it significant urban presence within the town centre.
