The British Medical Association (BMA) commissioned Cundall as part of a multi-disciplinary project team to design and manage the refurbishment of the grade II listed Lutyens designed building of BMA House in Tavistock Square.

The refurbishments have created a stunning rejuvenation of the main user facility and public spaces within the building including a new council chamber, member’s café and great hall auditorium.

The facilities, created for both association members and the public, bring the building 'into the 21st century' providing modern and much needed user friendly space. They also provide an additional revenue stream for the BMA for both internal and external conference use.

The intricacies of adapting a historic and aged listed building posed many challenges for Cundall but the integrated structural and building services team rose to these developing combined solutions working for each discipline in tune with the architectural and client desires for the spaces created.

Cundall was also commissioned to provide IT and audio visual and specialist lighting design throughout. Intelligent IT and audio visual systems with low energy lighting were carefully integrated, particularly in the listed feature.
