Cundall provided structural engineering, building services and lighting design for the 80,000sqft office fit-out at 4 Piccadilly Place.
Cundall undertook due diligence surveys of three buildings within Manchester city centre to assess the best fit option for the Barclays call centre and training facilities. On review of the options 4 Piccadilly Place was chosen as the preferred building.
Cundall completed the detailed design of the office fit-out. As part of the works extensive resilience systems have been installed including: three new air handling units, cooling systems to serve and comms rooms, two new basement generators, new UPS and new entrance/reception area. The fit-out has also achieved SKA Silver rating.
The scheme has place particular emphasis on minimising running costs and features:
Consultancy structural engineering services included assisting the programme and planning of the new building services distribution and plant positioning, ensuring that the integrity of the existing structure was maintained and any additional remedial works were kept to a minimum thus saving cost.
The interior and lighting design concept was developed to create a combination of open plan working spaces, as well as providing group and private work spaces which catered for all office based tasks. The lighting scheme was designed to maximise energy savings by utilising daylight dimming. The luminaires chosen for the scheme were selected for their light output efficiency and increased life spans
Cundall is delighted that four of its projects have been shortlisted for the British Council for Offices (BCO) Regional Awards 2015.
