Cundall was delighted to pick up two awards at the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) Midland Counties annual awards, which was held at Edgbaston Stadium on 3rd November 2016.
The Engineering Building at the University of Leicester won in the Structural Heritage for Buildings award, and Q3 Academy was commended in the Education or Healthcare category.
“It is a fantastic achievement to submit two entries, win one and be commended for the other. Our team works hard on all projects, but to be formally recognised by fellow professionals is something we should all be proud of.” David Walker, Structural Partner, Birmingham.
The judges commented: “We were very pleased to recognise Cundall’s projects as part of the Midland Counties Awards, which celebrate the range of skills that characterise the structural engineering profession in the Midlands. The Engineering Building at University of Leicester and Q3 Academy are marvellous example of engineering skills and show the quality of projects being produced in the Midlands. The Engineering Building at University of Leicester is a fine example of a heritage project to extend the life of an internationally famous Grade II listed building. The Q3 Academy was another example where careful co-ordination between design teams was exercised in terms of ensuring the phasing of the project met the client’s brief of opening a new school in a very short time frame. We are very pleased to recognise Cundall’s achievement in what was a strong contested awards year and our thanks go out to all who submitted entries.”
